Brad Pitt’s Opening Monologue in Inglorious Bastards

“We’re going to be dropped into France dressed as civilians. And once we’re in enemy territory, as a bushwhacking gorilla army, we’re going to be doing one thing and one thing only: killing Nazis. Now, I don’t know about you all, but I as sure as hell didn’t come down from the goddamn Smoky mountains and cross 5000 miles of water and file my way through half of Sicily to jump out of an airplane to teach the Nazis lessons in humanity. Nazis aint got no humanity. They’re the foot soldiers of a Jew-hating mass murdering maniac. And they need to be destroyed. And that’s why each and every son of a bitch wearin a Nazi uniform, they’re going to die. Now I’m the direct descendent of the mountain man Jim Bridges, means I got a little engine in me. And our battle plan will be that of an Apache resistance. We will be cruel to the Germans, and through our cruelty they will know who we are. And they will find evidence of our cruelty in the disembowled, dismembered, disfigured bodies of their brothers that we leave behind us. The German wont be able to help themself but imagine the cruelty their brothers endured at our hands, and our boot heels, and the edge of our knives. And the German will be sickened by us. And the German will talk about us. And the German will fear us. When the German closes their eyes at night and are tortured by their subconscious with the evil they have done, it will be with thoughts of us they are tortured with. Sound good? (Yes Sir). That’s what I like to hear. But I got a word of warning for all you would-be soldiers. If you join my army you take on debit. A debit you own me, personally. Each and every man under my command owes me 100 Nazi scalps. And I want my scalps. And all you all will get me 100 Nazi scalps. Taken from the heads of 100 dead Nazis. Or you will die trying.”

What actually is too much ambition?

It has dawned to me that I have just about TOO MUCH. And yes, indeed it is quite possible to have too much. How? Well, I tend to think of ideas and like prep for it to happen and then, it hits me on my face. My face?!? Who can actually help me? And then when I recieve no help or do not get what I actually planned for… I get so frustrated and send emails like CRAZY. But this does not happen like everytime, I am just drawing from past-experiences. The best thing I would say is just to write, educate yourself in stuff which are somewhat ideological, watch films and intern/ do work experience for people who you aspire to be.

TOO MUCH ambition can lead to self-hate, something I wish not to experience. Make and ask opinionative questions. And once in a while do a self evalution, what have you done recently for you to achieve your dreams— goals/ targets. Who is making your thoughts a little saggy. Who?

Black is beautiful, but Black isn’t power. Knowledge is power!

Like so many films/movies/documentaries this has stuck with me…Why? Simply because I wanted to gain so much knowledge after watching this. Directed by Swedish director, Göran Hugo Olsson. I was proud to see a clip of Malcolm X and Angela Davis. During the screening, I took notes. Notes in which I thought when I get home I will be some research into Stokely Carmichael and many others. America was such an ugly place during the 40-60′s and many years before and after. Its great that I am gaining wisdom in educating myself but others too. Additionally I love the 16mm film format, I would love to own it but its so damn expensive. Lets hope when I write and later on direct that I can use it, since I recently read a news article about the death of ‘Film’. The three top publishers/ distrubitors of movie film (8mm/16mm) have closed down, only one remains I think. But overall, all the merry to reading! It makes me wonder what would have happened if this roll of film was not discovered?!
